Back in Bali: Reconnecting with Artisans & Tradition
Anneka, Dave, and Peggy have officially arrived in Bali, and already, their 2026 buying journey is off to an inspiring start. From the moment they landed, they’ve been surrounded by the beauty, creativity, and deep sense of community that makes Bali so special.

Their first visits brought them back to familiar faces and cherished partnerships. Time spent with their dear friend and artisan Putu was a meaningful way to begin—set against a lush jungle backdrop, where stunning teak furniture is thoughtfully crafted by hand. It’s here that natural materials and skilled craftsmanship come together so effortlessly, resulting in pieces that feel both grounded and timeless.

They also reunited with Gede and Wayan, third-generation store owners who are continuing their family’s legacy while bringing a fresh perspective to their collections. With new finishes, refined silhouettes, and updated designs, their work beautifully balances tradition and innovation. These are the kinds of pieces that Anneka and Dave can already envision finding a place in homes back in Ottawa—functional, unique, and full of story.

One of the most heartwarming reunions was with Wayan, their driftwood artisan. Known for his kindness and creativity, he continues to surprise with new ideas and designs. This year, he’s been exploring more sculptural driftwood forms and organic décor pieces—each one completely one of a kind, shaped by nature and refined by hand.

As they travel across the island, Bali itself is putting on a breathtaking display. Towering penjors—beautifully সাজված bamboo poles adorned with intricate decorations—line the streets in preparation for upcoming festivals. Swaying gently in the breeze, they create a magical atmosphere and serve as a reminder of the island’s deep cultural roots and celebratory spirit.

This is only the beginning of their time in Bali, and already it’s filled with meaningful connections, creative inspiration, and incredible craftsmanship.

Stay tuned over the coming days as they continue exploring, meeting artisans, and uncovering unique pieces that will soon make their way to One World Bazaar.
